They I'm not sure if any rare shields are worth anything. #2 I plan on only having enough points to make the duration not a pain.

Paladin shields typically have either one percent increased resistance to all elements, or one percent increased physical damage. The Amazon, Assassin and Barbarian, being melee-classes have a higher block chance, 25%. See if you can get your hands on a Sacred Targe with 45 resists, those turn out to be really good spirit shields.
